Over a year after release, Gears of War 2 is still one of the most-played titles on Xbox Live. If the franchise’s “every two year” release schedule continues we should be returning to the battlefield with Delta squad once again in 2010. We recently chatted with Epic Games’ design director Cliff Bleszenski and he indicated we’d be hearing about his next game when “the weather gets warm” — likely meaning sometime this spring. When we do see the game expect Epic to expand the incredibly popular co-op Horde mode…and don’t be surprised if the lambent Locust play a prominent role in the story this time around.
