Looks like we won’t be getting a sequel to EndWar after all, at least not for a while. Videogaming247 is reporting that the project is currently on hold.
“It’s on the backburner,” Ubisoft Shanghai’s Michael de Plater said. He didn’t go into any further detail.
The original game was released in 2008 to mediocre reviews. The main hook was its voice activation, but it was panned for its fairly shallow gameplay.
A sequel was confirmed in July, with de Plater saying that they’ve solved some of the “hardest problems.” But now it looks doubtful that it will ever be finished.
Ubisoft Shanghai’s current project is the first-person survival game I Am Alive, which takes place in a Chicago that has been destroyed by a major earthquake. The release date for that game is currently unknown.
